Ronda Rousey goes 1-on-1 with a french toast sandwich in Carl’s Jr. ad

Carl’s Jr. have made it no secret that sex sells. While advertising their restaurant, they’ve traditionally used a formula of having a beautiful models appear in their commercials - whether that’s Kate Upton, Emily Ratajowski or Sara Underwood - provocatively eating their food.

The restaurants latest star is UFC champion Ronda Rousey. The 28 year old, who was announced yesterday would be headlining UFC 193 against Holly Holm, signed an endorsement deal with the company back in early August.

The first commercial featuring the UFC champ doesn’t stray too far away from Carl’s Jr. usual formula. The spot features a serious looking (but beautiful) Rousey and a Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Sandwich. We get shots of Rousey’s training blending in with close ups of the sandwich itself. Rousey raises the sandwich to her mouth, while the slogan “A knockout breakfast sandwich…” appears, as she starts eating it, when the slogan finishes with Rousey smiling “… with a sweet side.”

Brad Haley, chief marketing officer for Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s restaurants, told Sports Illustrated that Rousey was a perfect fit for the ads.

Ronda Rousey is impressive in so many ways and we’re huge fans

While she’s best known for her ultimate fighting ability, she also has a sweet side, which made her the perfect choice to star in the new Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Breakfast Sandwich ad.

I can’t blame him. Rousey’s has shown her awesome personality outside the UFC, and this ad instills that she has a sweet side. While it’s not the most provocative advertisement Carl Jr. has ever made, Rousey does a great job filling the usual role of a super model, which makes sense as she’s a huge star.
