Ironic: An advertising campaign about blocking advertisements

Written by Reva Friedel on .

AdBlock is a browser extension that will strip all ads from web sites, according to Ad Age. In a move that has left us chugging Everclear (not really), AdBlock has raised over $50,000 for an ad campaign. An anti-ad software is advertising. I can't...I don't. I can't even form a complete sentence.

Listen, I get it. Sometimes online ads can be intrusive, but how do you think you get to access all this content for free? AdBlock can't even deny the power of advertising - raising money to advertise why advertising is not needed. Or something. I don't even know. It certainly speaks to the state of the industry and the importance of promotion - paid or otherwise, which would defeat the purpose of AdBlock altogether. Now if you'll excuse me, I am off to make sense of something more simple, such as learning Chinese from scratch.
